About a year ago I was in a class were we were given the task to create a series of posters for an upcoming show. We had to “compete” against our classmates and if our design was chosen it would be used to promote the music series in Jacksonville. To my suprise two of my designs were picked and I had the opportunity to go to one of the shows. It was for the King Singers, a men’s acapella group from London. They are well known and even won a grammy in 2009. The show was amazing and it was awesome to sit in the audience open up the show’s brochure, turn to the last page and see my name in 10 pt size staring back at me.
Those 12 little letters stared me in the face, and made me feel so humbled and honored to have such a great experience as an early designer…. it made me realize, this is why I do what I do. I didn’t get paid for the design, but that didn’t matter, just the experience of helping people and taking part in seeing them succeed, was well worth it.(Im a cheeseball… I know)
