Yep I said it. And before you go hatin’ on me, hear me out. Let me start by saying I have done pretty much every “weightloss program” under the sun. Weight watchers, Juice fast, 21 day fix, running half marathons, the Jamie Eason program, you name it and guess what NONE of those programs will work IF YOU DON’T stick with it! You see, before I realized I had to make a lifestyle change, I wanted a quick fix, like maybe 3 weeks maximum but then I got burnt out and unmotivated. I would blame the program or say it was too hard to follow.
There is NO perfect workout program. These are simply TOOLS. Think of it like a garden, if someone handed you a shovel and some fertilizer and said HERE go grow a garden. Maybe you would plant some seeds, water a little BUT if you didn’t continue to maintain that garden, for weeks, months of even years, guess what, your garden would die. Its tragic I know. But its the same way with your workouts, if you expect to find the perfect workout program OR the perfect TIME to do it, maybe after the holidays, or maybe after your birthday, or uncle Joey’s wedding, or after your second cousin’s bachelorette party, guess what! You will NEVER find the right time! It will never be the perfect time, but all of those events will still happen and you will still be in the same boat if you don’t make a change today.
Whoa Alesha, Why are you being so mean?! HAHA Okay Why am I saying all of this? Why am I giving some tough love? Because I NEED TO HEAR it! Yep! I’m a fitness coach and I am going to be completely honest right now. I went on vacation last week and if you followed my instagram you saw the countless burgers, pancakes & chicken biscuits that were consumed! HA It was amazing BUT it also left me feeling super bloated, unmotivated to workout, my clothes were fitting tighter, I really didn’t want to eat healthy, and I really really didn’t want to motivate other people if I myself was feeling like a big slug!
I gave myself a big kick in the butt, set some new goals for the month and told myself that I would workout NO MATTER what, for at least 30 minutes a day 5 times a week. I told myself that I would meal prep every week, that I would LOG all my food, no matter what! Why? Because weightloss / health programs don’t work unless you do. All of those shiny dvds, or cookbooks stacking up in your kitchen mean NOTHING if you don’t pick them up everyday and do work. It’s hard, I know this! But not doing anything won’t help. I know what it’s like to get your picture taken and you immediately delete it because you don’t like the way you look. I know what its like to wear spanx under your jeans everyday because you hope that might suck everything in. I know what it’s like to eat healthy in front of friends and family but then eat an entire bag of donuts by yourself. I know what thats like because it was me for years!
Am I perfect? No. Do I still struggle? Every single day! Am I still that woman who eats donuts in her car.. LOL not anymore (but sometimes). I have learned that I am human, I am going to make mistakes, I am going to completely slip up on my clean eating, but I have also learned that you only fail when you stop trying! Its Friday, October 9th and I have logged my food for 5 days in a row with no cheats! I have worked out everyday this week and I am going to do it again next week! Who’s with me? Let’s make a change together!
